St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne

St Vincent's is a leading teaching and research hospital that provides the very best in patient care to people from all walks of life.

From our humble beginnings in a small cottage hospital in 1890s Fitzroy to our contemporary place as one of Victoria’s leading public hospitals, St Vincent’s has always provided the very best in patient care to people from all walks of life. Today, we provide medical and surgical services, emergency and aged care, mental health, palliative and residential care to thousands of patients each year.
We have more than 5,000 staff working at 15 sites across greater Melbourne. We’re part of Australia’s largest not-for-profit health service, St Vincent’s Health Australia, and are guided by our shared values of compassion, justice, integrity and excellence.
From performing Australia's first hand transplant to developing the world's first warning device for epileptic seizures and pioneering new approaches to cardiac surgery, St Vincent’s is at the forefront of medical education, research and innovation.
Together with the University of Melbourne, St Vincent's Clinical School provides the very best in training for the next generation of medical professionals.
Our wider network of collaborative research partners includes St Vincent's Institute, the O'Brien Institute, the Bionics Institute, the University of Woollongong and the Australian Catholic University. Together, we are working on some extraordinary medical breakthroughs particularly in the field of bioscience.
It's for these reasons and many more that we are recognised locally and internationally for excellence in patient care, research and real innovation.
